A Shepherd’s Journey from Herding Cattle to Winning Millions
In a twist of fate, 20-year-old Enock Nayebale from Kasese has realized his dreams after winning a share of the Uganda National Lottery’s historic jackpot. His modest investment in a lottery ticket has paved the way for a brighter future, allowing him to secure his family’s wellbeing.
A Life-Changing Win
Enock Nayebale, a young man from Kasese, had long harbored dreams of providing a better life for his future children and building a secure home for his mother. Those aspirations moved a step closer to reality when he purchased a sh1,000 LOTTO ticket using the USSD code *278# on August 3rd, following his initial entry into the lottery scene earlier this year.
On the day of the draw, Nayebale matched four of the winning numbers, securing a spot in Division 5 and sharing an impressive sh932,340,000 with four other winners in the Uganda National Lottery’s LOTTO Draw No.17.
The Journey to Kampala
Skeptical at first, Nayebale was uncertain of his win when notified via SMS. However, his doubts were put to rest after a call from ITHUBA Uganda’s Winner Services team and a visit from the Western Regional Manager.
This newfound assurance led him to Kampala, where he was warmly welcomed and provided with financial and trauma counseling to help him navigate his sudden fortune.
Planning for the Future
Overwhelmed with joy, Nayebale has shared his plans to build a new home for his mother, who shares in his happiness. Reflecting on his win, he stated, “I am deeply grateful and still in shock. I plan to build a beautiful home for my mother and save a substantial portion of the prize money.”
Encouragement for Other Winners
With Nayebale’s success, Michelle Van Trotsenburg, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at ITHUBA Uganda, urged other winners to come forward and claim their prizes. “As Ugandans celebrate Nayebale’s success, we urge the remaining two jackpot winners to claim their prizes at our head office. Remember, if you believe you’ve won for our other games, visit a registered retailer or the location where you purchased your ticket for validation,” she advised.
