Betway and PSL Promote Responsible Gambling with New Agreement
Betway, title sponsor of the Betway Premiership, has entered a new agreement with the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to emphasize safer gambling practices. This partnership aligns with National Responsible Gambling Month, aiming to spread awareness on responsible gambling throughout November.
Enhanced Responsible Gambling Initiatives for November
Under the new agreement, Betway will intensify its safer gambling initiatives during National Responsible Gambling Month.
The partnership with PSL will incorporate the “Bet Responsibly” message in all marketing materials throughout November, using prominent fixtures in the Betway Premiership to reach football fans across South Africa.
Betway will also collaborate with brand ambassadors to further strengthen the promotion of moderation in gambling.
Recognizing Safer Gambling Efforts in South Africa
Betway’s dedication to responsible gambling has been consistently acknowledged. Recently, the company was awarded the Best Responsible Gambling Operator Messaging and Marketing Campaign at the 20th anniversary celebration of the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF).
Joint Commitment to Protecting Players
During a media briefing, PSL chair Dr. Irvin Khoza, Betway CEO Laurence Michel, and SARGF executive director Sibongile Simelane-Quntana outlined the partnership’s goals. Michel expressed pride in Betway’s role in the Betway Premiership, stating:
“We therefore reiterate our messaging of Bet Responsibly to all football fans and our customers during the month of November and beyond.”
Simelane-Quntana applauded the collaboration, emphasizing that SARGF prioritizes the safety of gamblers and their families. She noted:
“Collaborating with Betway and the PSL during National Responsible Gambling Month is part of our effort to highlight not only the potential risks of problem gambling but also the availability of free support services, such as counseling and treatment, for those facing gambling addiction.”
Support Services Available for Those in Need
The partnership also seeks to raise awareness about the National Responsible Gambling Program, encouraging individuals experiencing gambling issues to seek help. Through joint efforts, Betway, PSL, and SARGF aim to make responsible gambling a priority for South African football fans.
