Botswana Gambling Revenue Projected to Exceed $69 Million

Botswana’s gambling industry faces revenue projections surpassing $69 million in the upcoming financial year. Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship Tiroeaone Ntsima disclosed growth estimates during the Motshameko o Phepa campaign launch. The sector generates approximately $17.25 million annually at current levels.

Responsible Gaming Campaign Targets Nationwide Coverage

The Gambling Authority launched Motshameko o Phepa, translating to Responsible Play in English. The public education initiative reaches over 500 sites across Botswana. Campaign operations began in September in Francistown and continue through March next year.

Ntsima stated the Gambling Authority regulates to protect families and safeguard youth. He emphasized gambling must not compromise citizen wellbeing. The campaign aligns with Vision 2036 national development aspirations.

Industry Development Integrates ESG Standards

The initiative demonstrates commitment to safe, regulated gambling aligned with Environmental, Social and Governance principles. The Gambling Authority appointed world-class athlete Nijel Amos as brand ambassador. Social media influencers join the campaign to enhance community engagement.

The sector attracts investment while providing government revenue streams. Industry expansion proceeds alongside player protection measures and community safeguards. The campaign reinforces that growth can coexist with responsible gambling frameworks across Botswana’s gaming market.
