Delegation Proposes Communication Hub and Skills Programs

Key proposals included establishing a pan-African communication station in Ouagadougou to combat media disinformation. Therefore, the delegation also suggested reforming school curricula to integrate African history education. Moreover, an extensive IT skills transfer program was proposed to address local capacity gaps. Consequently, the initiative targets strengthening capabilities in digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and emerging technology fields.

The Minister highlighted ongoing projects including data center creation and digitization of public services. Meanwhile, cybersecurity initiatives and expanded coverage to underserved areas remain priority development areas. Additionally, artificial intelligence integration in public administration represents a key modernization objective. Therefore, diaspora collaboration provides opportunities to accelerate these digital transformation programs through knowledge transfer.

Follow-Up Mechanism Ensures Partnership Implementation

The Ministry announced establishment of a follow-up mechanism to ensure actionable outcomes from diaspora collaboration discussions. Meanwhile, continued talks will identify priority areas for partnership, focusing on concrete projects. Moreover, the framework emphasizes impactful results through structured cooperation between government and diaspora experts. Therefore, the mechanism supports implementation of agreed digital development initiatives.

The ministry views diaspora collaboration as a key opportunity to advance its digital agenda. Additionally, partnerships enable access to specialized expertise not readily available domestically. Consequently, skills transfer programs address workforce development needs in emerging technology sectors. Therefore, the Back to Roots initiative supports Burkina Faso’s broader objectives for technology-enabled economic and social development.
