Ghana’s national lottery draws have transitioned to the state broadcaster, significantly expanding their potential audience. The National Lottery Authority confirmed the move from United Television to Ghana Television, effective December 1, 2025. This strategic shift aims to enhance transparency and public access to the live draws during peak viewing hours.

Revised Schedule for Prime-Time Viewing

The NLA also introduced a new schedule for the broadcasts. Consequently, the main evening draw from Monday to Saturday will now air at 8:00 PM. This new time slot follows GTV’s prime-time news. The Sunday draw, however, will retain its 6:00 PM schedule.

The NLA stated, “Effective December 1, 2025, the NLA live draws will be telecast on Ghana Television (GTV).” The Authority added, “From Monday to Saturday, the evening Draw, currently broadcast at 7.15pm, will be broadcast at 8.00pm, immediately after GTV’s prime-time news.”

Part of a Broader Modernization Drive

As part of a wider reform strategy, the NLA is implementing several other measures. For instance, it now requires all authorized lottery agents to display unique QR-coded identification stickers. This system helps regulators and the public distinguish legal operators from illegal ones.

Additionally, the authority is upgrading its retail network. It has partnered with Fidelity Bank to deploy 5,000 new point-of-sale terminals. This initiative aims to modernize equipment and improve sales oversight. Collectively, these steps seek to strengthen accountability across the national lottery system.
