LottoStar has introduced the first integrated professional counselling program for betting players in South Africa, marking a significant shift in how operators address problem gambling. The platform now provides direct access to qualified mental health professionals, rather than relying solely on external referrals or basic self-exclusion tools.

Comprehensive Mental Health Support Integration

The new service structure includes qualified counsellors who specialize in gambling addiction treatment. These professionals operate within LottoStar’s platform infrastructure to deliver immediate support for players experiencing betting-related difficulties. The counselling services remain completely free for all registered users and maintain strict confidentiality protocols.

LottoStar has developed additional support mechanisms, including self-assessment questionnaires that allow players to evaluate their gambling patterns. The platform also implemented cooling-off periods and comprehensive self-exclusion programs that enable account deactivation when players need breaks from betting activities.

Industry Standard Setting in African Market

This development represents the first time a South African betting operator has established in-house counselling capabilities. Traditional industry approaches typically involve referring problematic players to third-party helplines or providing basic harm prevention tools. A LottoStar spokesperson explained that “Responsible betting has never just been a box to tick for us. It’s a commitment. A promise to our players that we care just as much about their wellbeing as we do about the games they love.”

The company’s approach extends beyond crisis intervention to include educational resources and real-time support systems. These tools aim to help players maintain control over their betting habits before problems develop into serious addiction issues.
