Meridianbet Expands to South Africa with New Sportsbook Licence
Gaming operator Meridianbet announced this week that it has been issued a licence to operate a sportsbook by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. This significant development will see Meridianbet launch operations in South Africa.
A New Market Entry
The licencing grants Meridianbet, part of the Golden Matrix Group, the ability to offer in-play wagers for bets in South Africa. Additionally, the company can now license out its software suite to other operators within the country.
This strategic move positions Meridianbet to tap into the South African market at an opportune time, as the COSAFA Cup 2024 is set to kick off next week. The timing allows Meridianbet to begin taking wagers on this prominent regional football contest immediately.
Strategic Opportunities
Regarding the licencing, Meridianbet CEO Zoran Milosevic expressed his enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to enter the South African market, and this new licence presents a significant opportunity for us to continue to scale our operations.
“Expanding our reach into South Africa will provide new opportunities to grow our user base in an entirely new jurisdiction, underscoring our ongoing commitment to growing our industry-leading brands around the world.”
The South African betting market is known for its robust growth potential and passionate sports fan base. This move is anticipated to not only enhance Meridianbet’s global footprint but also provide South African bettors with more options and innovative wagering experiences.
