SportyTV has acquired exclusive free-to-air rights to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Kenya, following a deal with Iris Sports Media. The coverage will begin on June 14 and include the final, semi-finals, and all Mamelodi Sundowns fixtures.

FIFA Club World Cup 2025 to Be Shown Free on SportyTV

SportyTV has obtained exclusive free-to-air rights to a selection of FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ matches, marking a significant step in expanding international football access across Sub-Saharan Africa. Through an agreement with Iris Sports Media, the broadcaster will air 26 of the tournament’s 63 matches, with coverage available via its main TV channel, the sporty.com platform, and SportyTV’s official YouTube channel.

The selection includes:

  • 19 group stage matches

  • 3 round-of-16 ties

  • 2 quarter-finals

  • 2 semi-finals

  • The final

Importantly for local fans, all matches involving South African club Mamelodi Sundowns—the only Sub-Saharan African side in the tournament—will also be shown.

SportyBet Integration and Regional Reach

With the tournament kicking off on June 14, viewers in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Kenya will be able to watch the selected matches without any subscription fees. In parallel, Sporty Group is linking its media presence with its betting platform, SportyBet, enabling users to place bets in real time as they watch the games.

“We are thrilled to bring the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ to African football fans. This is more than just broadcasting; it’s about uniting communities through the love of the game and making world-class football accessible to all”, commented a spokesperson for Sporty Group.

The FIFA Club World Cup rights deal comes as SportyTV accelerates its expansion strategy in East Africa. On June 11, the network launched its Kenyan free-to-air service, which will feature a lineup of high-profile football competitions, including: Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and EFL Championship.

The company is also introducing SportyFM Kenya, the country’s first 24/7 English-language sports radio station. Led by Carol Radull, the station will provide constant coverage, analysis, and real-time updates from global and local sporting events.

The rights to the FIFA Club World Cup were secured earlier this year by Iris Sports Media from global distributor DAZN. The deal covers distribution across Sub-Saharan Africa and is supported by local partnerships, including with Marketing & Media Solutions (MMS) and PC Plus Group.
