Uganda and Tanzania Strengthen Cybersecurity Collaboration

Uganda’s National Information Technology Authority hosted Tanzania’s Information and Communication Technologies Commission delegation in Kampala. The visit focused on cybersecurity and data protection cooperation between the two East African nations. Tanzanian officials explored Uganda’s digital infrastructure, including the National Data Centre and National Computer Emergency Response Team.

Infrastructure Exchange Targets Regional Resilience

The program provided opportunities to exchange best practices and enhance technical expertise. Both facilities are central to safeguarding Uganda’s public-sector cybersecurity operations. The initiative aims to build resilience against rising cyberattack threats across the region.

Visits included the Personal Data Protection Office and Information Access Centre. These stops emphasized connections between data security, governance and digital inclusion. The delegation examined frameworks developed over Uganda’s decade-long experience in cybersecurity implementation.

East African Integration Drives Cooperation

Uganda positions itself as a regional hub for secure and resilient digital infrastructure. The initiative fosters cooperation among East African Community states to harmonize regulations. Participating nations aim to develop interoperable ICT systems across borders.

The collaboration reflects growing trends in cross-border partnerships supporting Africa’s digital transformation. Technical knowledge sharing strengthens collective capacity to address cybersecurity challenges. The framework supports regional efforts to establish consistent data protection standards and emergency response protocols.
