World Bank Mission Advances Ghana Digital Acceleration Project

A World Bank delegation initiated a mission to Ghana on November 20 to accelerate digital transformation under the Ghana Digital Acceleration Project. Michel Rogy, Regional Practice Director for Digital Development, led the team. Jana Kunicová, Program Manager for Digital Transformation, and Steve Davenport, Senior Digital Governance Specialist, represented Sector Minister Sam Nartey George.

Cybersecurity and AI Competitiveness Addressed

The first day included engagements with the GDAP Project Coordination Unit and technical visits to the Cyber Security Authority’s National CERT facility. Discussions focused on enhancing Ghana’s competitiveness in artificial intelligence and expanding digital employment opportunities. Public-sector digitalization and cybersecurity resilience strengthening formed key agenda items.

The World Bank delegation commended the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations for progress achieved to date. The GDAP Project Coordination Unit received recognition for implementation efforts. The delegation reiterated commitment to supporting Ghana’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

Project Coordination Drives Implementation

The mission addresses key priorities under the Ghana Digital Acceleration Project framework. Digital employment opportunities expansion remains central to the initiative. Public-sector digitalization advances through coordinated ministry and World Bank collaboration.

Cybersecurity resilience strengthening provides foundation for secure digital infrastructure development. The National CERT facility visit enabled technical assessment of current capabilities. Artificial intelligence competitiveness enhancement supports Ghana’s positioning in emerging technology sectors across regional markets.
