The Zambian Ministry of Labour and Social Security intervened to secure $11,948 in outstanding payments after the gambling facility abruptly shuttered its operations five days earlier than announced.

The ministry mobilized labor inspectors to engage directly with Canlin Investments Limited following worker complaints about the sudden closure. Casino management had initially informed staff that operations would cease on August 25. However, the facility closed on August 20 with only a brief notice citing business suspension for rectification purposes.
Workers immediately contacted authorities upon learning of the premature closure and concerns about unpaid wages. The compensation package covered all outstanding salaries, gratuities, and accrued leave entitlements. Mwaka Ndawa, the Ministry’s Principal Public Relations Officer, stated that the workers deserved recognition for promptly seeking lawful redress through proper channels.
